IASTM - ERGON
Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation
The ERGON technique is an innovative therapeutic approach that combines static and dynamic soft tissue manipulation with specialized tools to treat neuromusculoskeletal pathologies. [1]
What is IASTM-ERGON?
ERGON - The technique is a new innovative approach to older IASTM techniques (GRASTON technique, SMART TOOLS technique, Tools assisted massage technique, etc.), based on myofascial chains, as described by Thomas Myers and Ida Rolf. The techniques in ERGON are applied to myofascial chains in specific areas, fascial restrictions and adhesions. When restrictions are released, dysfunction is eliminated and functionality is restored in just a few treatments. Microtrauma is caused by the tools in the affected soft tissue structures, which stimulates a local inflammatory response. The microtrauma triggers the reabsorption of inappropriate fibrosis or excessive scar tissue and facilitates a cascade of healing activities that result in the remodeling of the affected soft tissue structures. Adhesions in the soft tissue, which may have developed as a result of surgery, immobilization, repetitive stress or other mechanisms, are broken down and allow optimal function to return. [1] [3]
What are treating?
With IASTM we treat soft tissues and conditions such as:
Tennis, golf elbow
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Neck and back pain
Plantar fasciitis
Rotator cuff tendonitis
Musculoskeletal imbalances
Non-acute bursitis
Scars (post-operative, due to injuries)... [3]
Contraindications - what conditions should not be treated with IASTM?
Unhealed wounds
Unhealed fractures
Thrombophlebitis
Hematomas
Osteomyelitis
Myositis ossificans
Hemophilia [3]
For additional questions and treatment limitations, please consult your physiotherapist or your doctor.
Kakšni so učinki?
Pain reduction
Decreased muscle tone
Fascia release
Improved muscle activation (Myotatic reflex in irregular muscle activation patterns)
Improved tissue circulation, resulting in better healing
Stimulation of anabolic processes (collagen fibers) [1] [2] [4]
Kako poteka obravnava?
For the treatment, we use medical stainless steel tools of various sizes and shapes. Based on the examination and the identified dysfunction, we treat the affected area and the entire fascial chain with specific strokes. The treated area is previously lubricated with a special IASTM cream. One anatomical area is usually treated for up to 15 minutes.
